Mike’s phone buzzed for the fourth time within a minute, the display illuminating for two seconds before fading back to black.
Trevor let out a sigh, while Mike grabbed the device from the table in front the couch they were sitting on.
“Why do you even still bother laying it aside? Your new boyfriend’s clingy.” The silent accusation in Trevor’s words wasn’t that silent at all. At least not to Mike, who knew him probably as good as one could – aside from Jenny of course.
They had met that day for an afternoon of video games, cheeseburgers, silly jokes and celebration of renewed friendship – strictly without the involvement of drugs. To the blonde’s surprise Trevor hadn’t even tried to break this new “no drugs” rule so far.
Harvey hadn’t sent him that many texts throughout the time they had spent together, but obviously it had been enough to make his best friend a little cranky.
The blonde let out a huff, unlocking his phone and starting to read. A slight smile tugged at the corner of his mouth while his eyes moved over the display. The other man paused the video game they were at and watched him read, waiting for an answer he was sure he’d get.
The blonde started to type a reply, beginning to talk simultaneously. “He says the same about me. But really, he isn’t. Usually.”
Mike didn’t add the thoughts that came tripping right after the things he had said out loud. Harvey really wasn’t clingy. He had a little control issue, but he wasn’t clingy. At the moment, he probably was jealous though and the blonde knew that all too well, even if the other man tried hard to conceal himself and texts weren’t the best way to determine such things.
After all the time they had spent together and the many instances he had seen his boyfriend being overly possessive and getting grumpy in a vain attempt to hide his jealousy from him, it was easy for him to tell.
The texts he received were nice and easy, having a slightly sharp edge every time the topic changed towards Trevor or his current occupation at his place. It was nearly not noticeable, but Mike knew him well enough to see it.
As much as the blonde didn’t feel the obligation to answer just because it was Harvey, he really wanted to. Maybe that was what had attacked Trevor’s mood, but if it was, Mike was sure he would get used to it, because he had to if they wanted to be friends again.
Harvey had no reason to feel the way he probably felt right now, but Mike knew that wouldn’t help to make it better. They had talked about this situation a lot and the other man finally hadn’t objected to him meeting Trevor anymore.
It hadn’t been easy, but in the end, all that mattered was the fact that Harvey had let him do this. After everything he had gone through with his best friend, after everything that the other lawyer had expressed about his thoughts on said best friend and after reasoning how bad an idea it was to try and actually be best friends with him again.
Harvey had still reasonable doubts about this and he sure still thought it was a bad idea, but he let him try and he even was willing to try himself – even if he wasn’t failing to mention every now and then that he wasn’t a hundred percent sure of this.
Mike wasn’t naive enough to believe for one second that the two of them would be getting along well at first. But maybe even that could be possible one day. Actually Mike was sure he would be fine as long as they wouldn’t hate each others guts.
For the moment though, it was just perfect as it was. He was with his best friend again, playing ridiculous video games and someone was waiting for him, having dinner ready and probably a few other things the blonde wouldn’t object to. For once, life was really good.
He tossed his phone next to himself onto the couch and grabbed the controller again to go on gaming. Just as Trevor had hit the pause button again to continue the phone rang. The dark haired man rolled his eyes and lay his head back onto the backrest of the couch while hitting pause again. “Go ahead. I don’t want to disrupt teenage love.”
“You’re an idiot.” Mike chuckled lightly and shot a glance at his phone.
“So are you.” Trevor grinned and decided it wasn’t that bad to wait another ten seconds until they could game on. He had his best friend back and maybe he owed the man he wrote texts with a little credit. Just a little.

Do you know what I see when I look at these? I’m imagining that Mike has fancy crossdressed and wearing a bracelet on his “soft feature” hands. Mike’s teasing Harvey on role reversal and constantly joking “who’s the puppy now?”. Harvey is just letting it pass because in the not distant future Mike is gonna be soooo punished for doing that. That is all. I am now dead
